View Full Version : President Trump calls for gun control

02-26-2018, 08:26 PM
"Bump stocks, we're writing that out. I'm writing that out myself," Trump said. "I don't care if Congress does it or not." - Donald Trump

Stupid move.
All he's doing is giving the anti-gunners more ammo. His anti-gun comments are already emboldening state level government gun grabbers.
Not only that, but this will kill conservative votes in the midterms and his reelection chances in 2020.
Slippery slope my friends. First bump stocks, then aftermarket triggers, then they'll take it to the next level by trying to ban all semi-autos.

Looks like we've been thrown under the bus here.
Mr. Trump needs to remember why, how, and by whom, he was elected.

Just watched President Trump, on national television, side by side with Feinstein and other anti-gunners talking about further infringements on our 2nd Amendment rights. :0aVery_Angry_Emoji:

Talking points were:
Executive order to ban bump stocks.
Raising the firearms buying age to 21.
Permits for buying firearms and universal background checks.
He told Fienstein to add her Assault Weapons ban to the bill. Trump said he would be honored to look at Dianne Feinstein's assault weapon bill. She asked if he'd sign it. He said yes, and she started giggling.
A ban on semi-auto weapons was brought up.
A specific ban on the AR15 because it "tears people apart".
Hi-cap magazine ban.
He killed national carry reciprocity.
Mental health and "other issues".
Blaming TV and video game violence. WTF?
Trump threw the NRA under the bus by saying he didn't need their support.
He actually said: "I like taking the guns early, then worry about due process".
Asked them to pile of the above into one "strong" bill.

Either I just watched the biggest dog and pony show, troll session, bait and switch in history, or DJT is showing his true colors by siding with the enemy and just drove a knife in ours backs and a nail in the coffin lid of our 2A rights.

I'm really hoping he staged this to expose the ridiculousness of the leftist gun grabbers, make them put all their eggs in one basket, then crush the basket.
If he's serious about all this, then we're potentially screwed and we've got one Hell of a fight on our hands.
Regardless, it's high stakes poker with our 2A rights as the wager and I don't like it. My rights are NOT a bargaining chip to play with.

Write your legislators, I sure will be.

:0aAnguished_Face_Em I was only able to watch a little bit, I have to run but what I did see I'm not happy with. Thoughts?

:0aAnguished_Face_Em I was only able to watch a little bit, I have to run but what I did see I'm not happy with. Thoughts?

I don't even know what to think at this point. But I do know what to do.

It's time to send some emails and make some calls to our legislators and the White House.
Then wait and see how this all pans out.

Washington: Committee to Vote on Banning Long Gun Purchases By Adults

Florida Senate to take up Gun Control Bill

Minnesota: Anti-Gun Legislation to Be Considered

Maryland: Senate Committee Hearing Scheduled to Consider Anti-Gun Bills

Maine: Firearm Surrender Bill to be Filed

Hawaii: Trigger Modification Ban & Firearm Surrender Bill

I'm sure there will be more to come.

Hes playing both sides or its (as you put it in a previous conversation) high stakes poker and using the 2A as part of his pile of chips. Either way something isnt right. HB 5087 is outright bullsh*t

More fallout.

Dick's Sporting Goods, Fred Meyer/Kroger and Walmart raise minimum gun buying age to 21.
Walmart to stop selling toy guns in their stores.
Publix Supermarkets pull gun related magazines off shelves.
REI cuts ties with Vista Outdoor (Savage Arms/Federal Premium).
Metlife, Simplisafe, Symantec, United Airlines, Delta, Best Western, Allied Van Lines, North American Van Lines, Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, and First National Bank of Omaha cut ties with NRA.
Chubb Limited insurance announced it would cancel it's "NRA Carry Guard" coverage.

It looks like the GOP leadership is actually showing some balls by saying there will be no new gun control, who'd have thought McConnell and Ryan would grow a pair?

Unfortunately for Florida this happened: https://members.gunnook.com/showthread.php?679-Florida-legislature-passes-gun-control-bill&p=1732#post1732

Way to go Mr one term president, Benedict Donald. :0aVery_Angry_Emoji:

Trump congratulates Florida for 'very good' gun legislation
President Trump said on March 8 that he's "almost finished with the legal papers" to ban bump stocks, and praised Florida's state legislature for passing gun control measures.

I don't think you have to worry. There are a few insurance companies that provide the Carry Guard coverage. I believe Lockton is the main provider.

The hits just keep coming.

WASHINGTON – President Trump has finalized his plan to impose restrictions on guns and improve school safety that will be released Sunday evening.

Among the quickest actions Trump expects completed is a ban on the sale of bump stocks by expanding the definition of illegal machine guns to include the devices.

“Within in a couple weeks, we could have a rule implemented,” deputy White House press secretary Raj Shah told the Post Sunday.

The plan will include recommendations for states, Congress and for administrative action. In the weeks since the Parkland high school shooting that killed 17 students and staff, Trump has expressed support for arming certain teachers, raising the age to 21 to buy semi-automatic weapons and improving background checks.

He’s expected to urge state action — rather than pass federal laws

Trump's New York liberal ways have come to the surface.
He's on track to do way more damage to our rights than Obama ever did and he's being cheered for on both sides.
Here we are, Republican's control all branches of our government and we're still fighting against infringement of our rights.
It's clear, we were bought and sold by Don The Con.
Getting damn tired of this bullshit. :0aVery_Angry_Emoji:

Hit this official Trump website questionnaire.

At the end I wrote: "Stop the infringement on our second amendment rights or lose our support."

Gun Owners of America is preparing to file a lawsuit once the Trump administration puts bump stock gun control in place.

GOA executive director Erich Pratt told Breitbart News:

GOA is committed to fighting any regulation or ban on bump stocks. This issue goes far beyond stocks, because regulating devices that allegedly increase the rate of fire of a firearm can eventually be applied to match triggers, magazines or semi-automatic firearms. In essence, a bump stock ban opens the door to regulate and ban commonly-owned firearms and firearm parts. A ban on bump stocks would have huge implications for the exercise of our gun rights, and that is why GOA is already looking ahead to a lawsuit challenging the regulation.

Guess he is scared of the NRA after all, or the outpouring of dissatisfaction from us gun owners.
Either way, the damage is done, the gun grabbers at state level will get it done now. Already happened in Florida.

The White House announced a series of recommendations Sunday night meant to stop school shootings, including a full audit and review of the FBI tip line after warnings about a student who killed 17 people at a Florida high school last month were not acted upon.

The administration did not call for immediately increasing the minimum age for buying long guns to 21, as President Trump had previously advocated. However, it did announce that Education Secretary Betsy DeVos would chair a federal commission on school safety to study the proposal.

New Trump Tweets, he's still at it when he needs to just STFU.

Very strong improvement and strengthening of background checks will be fully backed by White House. Legislation moving forward. Bump Stocks will soon be out. Highly trained expert teachers will be allowed to conceal carry, subject to State Law. Armed guards OK, deterrent!.......
- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 12, 2018

....On 18 to 21 Age Limits, watching court cases and rulings before acting. States are making this decision. Things are moving rapidly on this, but not much political support (to put it mildly).

Dig that hole deeper. There's NO way this could possibly be abused by liberal judges. :0aNeutral_Face_Emoj

Trump White House Declares Support for California-Style Gun Confiscation Orders

Breitbart News has a copy of the release and it urges states to adopt Extreme Risk Protection Orders (ERPOs). Such orders allow firearms to be confiscated with a judge’s approval.

The White House suggests that ERPOs “allow law enforcement, with approval from a court, to remove firearms from individuals who are a demonstrated threat to themselves or others and temporarily to prevent individuals from purchasing new firearms.” They stressed that the orders “should be carefully tailored to ensure the due process rights of law-abiding citizens are protected.”

NRA Backs White House’s ‘Extreme Risk Protection Orders’ in Gun Regulation Announcement

NRA-ILA’s Chris Cox said, “We need to stop dangerous people before they act, so Congress should provide funding for states to adopt risk protection orders. This can help prevent violent behavior before it turns into a tragedy. These laws allow a court to intervene and temporarily remove firearms when a person threatens violence to themselves or others.”

I can think of a lot of ways this will be used against gun owners by liberal judges. Got a crazy ex? Vindictive neighbor? Hateful family members? Remember that time you threatened to kick that guy's ass? All they have to do is accuse you and your firearms could be seized.
